SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES
As this project is intended to supplement the fundraising activities of Suicide Prevention services, it is possible that trained representatives will peruse your submissions following our initial screening for suitability. This is to ensure that there is no content readers may find potentially triggering. All contributors must be at least 16 years old.
We should clarify that we do not wish to receive works of an explicit or gratuitously violent nature, and works deemed potentially harmful will be rejected. As above, your stories must be in keeping with our brand identity - dark speculative fiction in one of (or a combination of) the genres we publish. Please familiarise yourself with our house style regarding formatting and layout to get an idea of how your work might be presented.
We should make it clear that we will prioritise writers who have expressed their support for our label, through such activity as purchases and reviews (especially reviews), and interaction with our social media channels in terms of liking, commenting, and sharing posts. This will ensure that our authors' community grows in a recpirocal manner, supporting each others' burgeoning careers.
On average, stories must be between 5k and 10k words long, and should not be available anywhere else (we will accept novellas if space allows). We will accept poetry of any length, but note that our primary focus will be on short stories. You do not need to articulate your own mental health journey, although we appreciate that analogous or allegorical works are sometimes expressive of same. In keeping with this possibility, you might like to include a short introductory 'foreword' with the story, in case you would like to clarify anything about its content. Please complete the Submissions form below and attach your file, ensuring that it is in Doc, Docx, or PDF format. All other formats will be rejected.
Submissions for Vol. 2 are now open, with publication planned for 2024.
THE COVER ART
We invite artists from around the island of Ireland to submit their artwork for selection for the cover of Vol. 2 of the Channel The Dark anthology, due for publication in 2024. The book is currently planned for publication in 3 formats - e-book, paperback and hardback - so we will need a front cover image for the e-book and a 'wraparound' cover (an extension of the front cover) for the physical books.
Cover art for Vol. 1 is by Bekka Bjorke. You can purchase Vol. 1 here.
If selected, your artwork will feature on our website as a webpage background, and the book featuring your cover design will be sold via our website (e-book exclusively on our website) and in other outlets to be confirmed.* If you have any further questions or concerns as to how your art will be used, don't hesitate to contact us.
*Please be aware that no royalties will issue to contributors for this volume. It is a not-for-profit project.
SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES
Please make yourself aware of the standard dimensions for an e-book cover. We cannot confirm the dimensions of the paperback cover until the page numbers are finalised, so please consider scaling issues when completing your work. Also, please keep in mind the placement of 1) the Channel The Dark title at the top centre of the cover page (the colour of the title is open to change, to accommodate the colour scheme of the winning entry); 2) contributor information at the bottom centre (or across the bottom) of the cover; 3) title info and the Temple Dark Books logo on the spine of the paperback; and 4) back cover information pertaining to the project, as well as barcode, publisher and artist information.
Your artwork must be in keeping with our brand identity and the genres we publish. We do not wish to receive artwork depicting explicit or gratuitously violent situations, and works deemed potentially harmful will be rejected.
Please complete the Submissions form below and attach your file, ensuring that it is in JPG or PNG format. All other formats will be rejected.
Submissions for Vol. 2 are now open, with publication planned for 2024. Good luck!
